Carey Haslam

Carey Haslam has been a conflict consultant for the past 28 years; and she works as a mediator, coach, supervisor, facilitator and trainer. 

She has a broad range of experience working with organisations across the private, statutory (including Local Authorities, Education, and Prison sector) and third (both national and local charities) sectors.

She has experience as a Non-Executive Director (most recently of the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education), as Advisory Board member (Aberdeen Standard Ethical Advisory Board) and as a Senior Manager with Leap Confronting Conflict ( the national conflict resolution charity for young people at risk).

She currently mediates in workplace, SEN and community disputes and is an Approved Member and Professional Practice Consultant with the College of Mediators.

She has designed and delivered training in conflict resolution, leadership, mediation and skills development.  She co-authored Leap Confronting Conflict’s influential training manual, Playing with Fire.  She has a specific interest in diversity and inclusion; she has created courses in Equality & Diversity in Practice, and in Race & Diversity: Identity, Prejudice & Belonging and facilitated discussions on Safe Spaces, Difficult Conversations.  Carey is currently delivering programmes in Unconscious Bias and developing a new programme on Being White, which explores Whiteness & White Privilege.  Her training focuses on translating complex frameworks into easy-to-understand models & developing practical skills and tools for change.
